Say goodbye to acne scars with Infini treatment in Portland, OR

Acne is a frustrating and embarrassing problem for many people, and all too often the agony continues long after the skin condition clears. Severe acne can leave lasting scars, which are notoriously difficult to treat. Now Portland, OR patients have a new treatment option, with Infini from Thrive Aesthetic & Anti-Aging Center. It combines two tried and true techniques – microneedling and radiofrequency (RF) rejuvenation.
Microneedling and RF – better together
Microneedling is a popular, minimally invasive collagen stimulation technique. It is simple and surprisingly gentle, utilizing a multitude of hair-like fine needles to create tiny channels in the skin. While the needles help break down scar tissue, the process also triggers a healing response that generates new collagen. Because the needles are small, there are minimal side effects, yet it is quite effective. However, the needles only reach a specific depth, so microneedling alone has limited effectiveness for acne scars.
Infini takes the benefits of microneedling to a new level, coupling it with therapeutic RF energy, which rejuvenates tissues across multiple deep layers. This state-of-the-art device is designed with insulated microneedles, delivering measured doses of RF energy directly to dermal layers.
It has all the benefits of traditional microneedling, and the benefits of RF therapy – plus some unique advantages of its own.
- The unique insulated needles protect the epidermis (skin surface)
- Adjustable device allows your provider to select the optimal energy level
- RF energy generates heat, which stimulates collagen and elastin repair as well as breaking up old collagen
- The treatment takes just minutes, with little to no downtime
- Patients may begin to see improvement in acne scars after just a couple of Infini sessions
How acne scars are treated
Acne wreaks havoc with the skin in many ways, and it can leave lasting damage However, some of the marks left by acne aren’t actually scars, but rather hyperpigmentation. These are discolored spots that don’t involve skin depressions or raised scars. Acne-related hyperpigmentation often fades away over time, though it can take months or years. It may be treated with chemical peels, topical formulas, IPL photofacial, or several other options. However, atrophic (depressed) scars involve tissue loss, which has traditionally been quite difficult to treat.
Icepick, boxcar, and other types of depressed scars form when tissue has been severely damaged, usually by inflammation or a bursting pus pocket. The healing response involves rapid creation of fibrous collagen, which protects the area. Unfortunately, it also creates a hard, rough-textured area, which is sunken due to tissue loss.
To effectively treat acne scars, we need to address both hardened scar and loss of underlying tissue. This is especially challenging, because skin needs to be treated at multiple depths. Infini rises to the challenge beautifully, with dual action treatment that works to break down scar tissue, softening and rejuvenating skin. Simultaneously, it stimulates production of healthy collagen, to replace lost tissue.
Ironically, the same healing processes that creates hardened scar tissue can also restore skin. How? The secret is precision. While a traumatic skin injury triggers a strong response from the body, Infini is carefully controlled to gently activate the healing response. The result is a healthy – not excessive – increase in collagen production and rapid skin rejuvenation.
Is Infini right for you?
During your initial consultation, your provider will inquire about your medical history, allergies, and other pertinent information. Infini is not generally recommended for patients who are pregnant, or for those who have certain medical conditions, such as uncontrolled diabetes or non-acne acute inflammatory disease. Additionally, patients with defibrillators or cardiac pacemakers are not considered good candidates for RF treatments, including Infini.
For most patients, Infini is a safe and effective treatment option. In addition to improving acne scars, it can treat other common skin concerns, including fine lines, some wrinkles, poor skin texture, uneven complexion, laxity, and much more. It is also one of the best weapons in the battle against aging and sun damage.
