Beaverton area patients can enjoy cosmetic Botox and filler treatments as an anti-aging solution
At Thrive, we are committed to helping patients in the Beaverton area with improving their appearance and the way they feel. For patients dealing with the unwanted signs of aging, their only goal may be to reduce fine lines and wrinkles from their face so they can look and feel younger. Dr. Adam Maddox and his team can achieve this by providing cosmetic treatments such as fillers and Botox.
Fillers and Botox use different methods for improving the texture of the skin. Fillers are gel substances that are made from hyaluronic acid. They are injected into the upper layer of the skin to add volume to the fine lines and wrinkles of concern. Results are immediate and patients will enjoy them for about six months or so before reinjection is necessary. While patients cannot reverse the signs of aging, they can disguise them on a temporary basis with dermal fillers.
Botox, on the other hand, works differently by reducing the contractions of the muscles underneath the skin that result in dynamic wrinkles. Botox is a medication that uses botulinum toxin type A to inhibit muscle contractions. It has been used for many years as medical treatments for cervical dystonia, chronic headaches, underarm sweating, and overactive bladder, among others. Injections will last four to six months and they must be repeated to maintain results.
Botox is safe. It is FDA approved. It does not provide immediate results in the same way dermal fillers do. Instead, Botox works over the course of about one week to reduce the depth of wrinkles and folds. It is also best utilized in areas of the face such as the upper portion where muscle contractions cause the development of many of the wrinkles and folds. It can be used to reduce crow’s feet, glabellar lines (the lines between the eyebrows), and forehead folds.
